John, a Bloomington native, joined Van Gundy Agency in 1977 and later became a partner. Throughout his many years in the insurance industry, John has worked with all types of insurance, including churches, day care facilities, contractors, apartment managers, and dentists.
John graduated from Central Catholic High School in Bloomington and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Illinois Wesleyan University. He participated in sports throughout his school years and has great memories of playing basketball in the Elite 8 in high school and the NAIA National Championship in college. John continues his lifelong love of sports, participating in the Central Catholic Alumni Association's Booster Club and Hall of Fame. He has also coached Little League Baseball and YMCA Youth Basketball. John and his wife, Lori, have two sons, Michael (Brooke) and Andrew (Michelle) and granddaughters: Reid, Ryan, and Addison.
